Astaxanthin is a gorgeous red color with strong pigmentation ability. As a functional pigment, astaxanthin is absorbed and accumulated by fish and poultry much more efficiently than other carotenoids such as scleroxanthine, lutein and zeaxanthin. Astaxanthin is mainly used in the feed industry, can be used as a feed additive for abalone, salmon, rainbow trout, sea bream, crustaceans and ornamental fish and a variety of poultry, pigs etc.
Adding 50 mg/ kg astaxanthin to the diet of ornamental fish such as red swordtail, pearl Mary and flower Mary can effectively improve the body color of fish. Meanwhile, veterinary experts from British MAG have pointed out in many years of research that adding 15mg/ kg astaxanthin to the breeding of red and brown red dogs can improve the hair color and enhance its ornamental value.
